Okay, it’s time to be blogging again! I’ve been away for far too long, reconfiguring our universe here in BoldMoves Country.  It is time to share a phenomenal discovery we’ve made in our research over the past several months––3 reasons why being stuck can be just what you need to get on the right track with your business.

1. Loss of enthusiasm for growing a business is normal! There is good reason why the majority of people who try to start a business begin to lose their enthusiasm after the first wave of excitement. That key reason is that as a global society, we have been overly influenced by an approach to education that is job-focused. So, chances are very good that your feeling of being stuck is tied to the fact that you have been systematically trained to work for someone else and encouraged to lose touch with all of the innate qualities that you need to sustain excitement for growing your own businesses.

2. To notice being stuck is a powerful turning point. Once you wake up out of the numbness of a drop in enthusiasm, you can intentionally begin the process of getting back in touch with those innate qualities for entrepreneurship that were discouraged by job-focused education. MLMs And The Creative World View

Most of us rely on a logical view of the world as the basis for making choices every day. The joke is, that then we grouse and complain when everything stays the same=>=>=same challenges=same interruptions=same negative self talk=same limiting beliefs=same feeling of being stuck in a rut so high the sky cannot be visible. It isn’t our inability to create change that has us stuck, it is the fact that the logical worldview is not, and never was, the best way to get a foothold on change.

Change is best managed via a structured, yet open interface between the LOGICAL, EMOTIONAL and IMAGINAL expressions of BeInG. It is an internal process, individual to each person and available as they overcome fear, boldly come to know who they truly are, and choose their actions based on who they deeply agree themselves to be––a love of self that is about honoring and celebrating. Definitely not about external image and the amassing of material worth.

So, changing from being a worker bee, to becoming a force within a network marketing company is an INSIDE JOB. The network marketing industry has intuited this for six decades as it has fostered personal and professional growth and development. Most People Are Born Entrepreneurs!

Research from the fields of human development, creativity and innovation strongly confirm our own professional experience that most people are born with the natural abilities needed to become entrepreneurs. These include personal passion, creativity, vision, self-directed action and risk acceptance. Think of an active, willful two year-old.

In our experience, it is not a lack of innate entrepreneurial capacity that has the majority of people fail in network or affiliate marketing and other home-based businesses. Nor is it a lack of intelligence, perseverance, skill, quickness of mind, commitment, or even basic energy. The failure factor for most people is that their natural ability to be actively entrepreneurial is not readily available to them. That is because entrepreneurial qualities are buried by job-focused conditioning imposed by education for the industrial/cubicle age where success meant being able to get and keep a job working for someone else.

That education required us to shut down the natural abilities that are essential to being a successful entrepreneur. In most jobs, there is little or no room for personal passion, vision, creativity and self-directed action. In fact, these qualities are disruptive to work in factories and cubicles where there is a high need for conformity, compliance, and repetitive action. So, the vast majority of people have buried their natural entrepreneurial abilities beneath layers of job-focused conditioning. They have learned to “go along to get along” and are completely out of touch with what we might call their authentic Performance DNA, their natural ability to perform as business owners. The great news is that it is still there waiting to be tapped!

Is MLM Drop-Out A Sacred Cow?

In my last blog, I said that the the gargantuan drop-out rate for business builders in MLMs has become a sacred cow to be protected and justified at every turn. Let’s look closer at that idea. Literally speaking, a sacred cow is an actual cow that is treated with sincere reverence, as in the Hindu religion. In business, a sacred cow is an idea that is not to be questioned because it might upset the status quo, but that proves at some point to be only a self-perpetuating myth.

Network marketing leaders recently interviewed unanimously agreed that more than 87% of new recruits quit their businesses within the first year. Some leaders estimated the attrition rate to be as high as 97%.

Interestingly, about half of those interviewed shared concern that if facts about attrition became too visible in the industry, it might further discourage new recruits. Sacred cows stay sacred because people don’t want to talk about them.

Other leaders seemed to defend the high attrition rate, as though to suggest that those few recruits who do survive and thrive are part of an elite club that should be admired and preserved. Sacred cows in business are often symbols of a power elite, but they can also keep leaders from opening to important new ideas.

Belief Severely Limits MLM Leaders!

While interviewing MLM leaders for our research on recruit attrition, we repeatedly heard a critically limiting belief: “Most people are simply not cut out to be entrepreneurs and will not be successful in network marketing. I just need to write them off when they don’t perform right away.”

This belief is so embedded in network marketing culture, that it has become a sacred cow to be protected and justified at every turn. But what if it just isn’t true? What if up to 60% of recruits who are written off could be supported to succeed? That would be great for business wouldn’t it?

It is not a lack of capacity that has the huge majority of people fail in network marketing, or a lack of intelligence, or perseverance, or skill, or quickness of mind, or commitment, or even basic energy.  It is the fact that their basic energy, their Performance DNA, is not available to them. Let me explain.

We live in a world where people were and are educated for a different age, the industrial/cubicle age, where people are trained in all of the skills and abilities needed to hold a job. Success in that world requires that we shut down all of the key energy factors that are essential to being a successful entrepreneur; personal passion, vision, creativity, self-directed action, and risk acceptance to name just a vital few.

So, what happens when people are able to re-access the energy of their Performance DNA? They shift gears in surprising ways, and begin performing like the 5% to 10% of recruits who come to network marketing already in touch with their natural ability to act powerfully as entrepreneurs.
