Stuck In Inner CritterVille!
I decided that since I’m up anyway and searching for my Whisperer voice which has been muffled for a few hours, that I might as well share my angst by revealing what a true Inner Critter attack feels like. Not that you don’t already know, because you, like every other living person, have had one. The difference is that you may not have identified in the moment that your internal voice of fear and doubt (Inner Critter) had taken you out. I have to notice, because it is my job to help other people identify those pesky Critters and turn down their volume enough to allow their Whisperer voice to be heard. And frankly, it is down right embarrassing when my own Critters get the best of me.
So here’s the deal: An Inner Critter attack often begins with a nagging little doubt about our ability to perform on some important objective. And then, as if the Critter had gone out and purchased a $250,000 sound system, it grows both in volume and vividness. This is because Inner Critters are simply one manifestation of our creativity which in the moment is running amok. That’s right, we are creating even when what we are creating is fear and doubt.
So the question is, what do we want to create? If something positive, then we have to learn to listen to our Whisperer voice – which of course, only comes in a whisper at first. The good news is that once we’ve learned to tame Inner Critters, the Whisperer begins to come on loud and clear. Then we know we’re headed toward the ease and grace of living and working that comes with an Optimal Operating State. Oh, I feel so much better now!
