While we’re looking at opposites in this question about the colors of fear, we might notice that there is another example of the polarity exhibited in red versus green: red light, green light. Stop and go. For the past decade, there has been a lot of stop energy in our country.

Many of us have come to complete stop in our lives, either because our world has changed so much we don’t know how to get going, or because we are fearful that if we move one inch, the change that is flattening our friends and neighbors will flatten us too. Let’s notice how stop energy is directly proportional to the degree to which we make our decisions based on people, media, and circumstances that are outside of us.

So maybe a Green Alert has us waking up to our own inner sense of direction, has us saying go, go, go because we are following our own guidance, hearing our own inner wisdom. Unfortunately, for many of us, that is pretty tricky because we have not been supported in fully exploring our inner selves, so we’re not sure what is wisdom and what is just fantastic nonsense.

In BoldMoves Country, we get that support, some of us for the very first time. And we also get a simple, yet powerful way to tell wisdom from fantasy. Wisdom comes with a true sense of possibility. Fantasy comes with a subtle undertow of fear and doubt that has us wanting to escape our lives.

Red Alert:  be afraid – to stay, to go, to come, to leave. Green Alert: open to the possibility of knowing who we are; open to the possibility of recognizing fear even in its most deceptive forms;  open to the possibility of managing fear so it doesn’t run us; and open to the possibility of go, go, going boldly forward in pursuit of life, liberty and happiness.
